Additional Primary Places in Euxton, Chorley - Proposal to Expand Balshaw Lane Primary School Chorley

Decision Maker: Cabinet Member for Children, Young People and Schools

Decision status: Recommendations Approved

Is Key decision?: No

Purpose:

Lancashire County Council has a statutory duty to ensure that a primary or secondary school place is available for every child of statutory school age living in Lancashire who requires one.  As a result of high birth rates and/or additional housing impact, Chorley has been identified as requiring additional reception places for 2018 and beyond.

To address the demand for additional places in Euxton, Chorley, authority is being sought to commence a process of consultation relating to a proposal to expand Balshaw Lane Primary School by providing 15 additional places at Reception age with effect from September 2018.  This would result in the published admission number of the school increasing from 315 to 420 pupils.

Decision:

County Councillor Matthew Tomlinson, the Cabinet Member for Children, Young People and Schools approved the recommendationas set out in the full report.

The full report is not available for publication as it contains exempt information as defined in Paragraph 3 of Part 1 of Schedule 12A to the Local Government Act 1972.
