County Councillor Matthew Tomlinson, the Cabinet Member for Children, Young People and Schools:

 

(i)  considered the information in this report.

(ii)  approved the proposal of the Governing Body of Lytham St Annes Technology and Performing Arts College (LSATPAC), as detailed in the statutory notice, to discontinue its post 16 sixth form provision at by permanently lowering its age range from 11-18 years to 11-16 years, with effect from 31 August 2018.  The proposal is based on concerns about the long term financial viability of the whole school and is linked to the reducing number of students in the sixth form. 

 

(iii)  approved that an appropriate statutory decision letter be sent out, as specified under legal requirements, to give the reasons for the decision to those who are to be informed of them.

 


07/03/2017 - The Future of Lytham St Annes Technology and Performing Arts College's Post 16 Provision

The Committee considered a report presented to the Cabinet Member for Children, Young People and Schools on the proposal to discontinue post 16 sixth form provision, by permanently lowering the age range from 11-18 years to 11-16 years, with effect from 31 August 2018 of Lytham St Annes Technology and Performing Arts College (LSATPAC) following the conclusion of statutory consultation between 1 December 2016 and 20 January 2017.

 

Resolved: - That the recommendations set out in the report to the Cabinet Member for Children, Young People and Schools be noted and that no additional comments or suggested alternative recommendations be made.
