13/06/2018 - Lancashire County Council and the Armed Forces Covenant

Lancashire County Council signed the Armed Forces Covenant in November 2013 and has established a number of initiatives since then to support the armed forces community.

The county council remains strongly committed to the Covenant and can further demonstrate this commitment by reviewing current policies across a range of duties, functions, or services to ensure that the county council continues to meets national best practice standards wherever possible.

Cabinet is asked to:
(i) Approve preliminary work to identify, review or develop policies that support the armed forces community across a number of services;
(ii) Agree to a further report to Cabinet later in 2018 detailing the outcome of the review and options for consideration;
(iii) Agree to the county council re-stating its commitment to the armed forces community by re-signing the Covenant in November 2018 as part of efforts to commemorate the centenary of the 1918 Armistice.

The Statement is being submitted to Cabinet for approval.
