SUPPORT LOCAL JUNIOR FOOTBALL CLUB ACQUIRE LAND

We, the undersigned, petition the county council to to allow our Local Junior Football Club to take on the ownership of Woodcock Hall Estate, Preston..

Our Local Junior Football Club is asking for your support in signing this petition to give our club a home base to bring the club together, one that is big enough for all 32 teams totalling a massive 450 children, who will celebrate its 40th Anniversary in 2018.
The land which we wish to acquire is Woodcock Hall Estate, situated opposite the new WW1 memorial where the A582 (Farington Road) meets the A5083 (Stanifield Lane) including the building’s and associated fields.
We request the council to allow us to take on the ownership and as a club would fundraise for any maintenance work and development of the site. This is our chance to voice our opinion to the council to bring our club together on land that isn’t being used.
The club provide not only football coaching in a safe, friendly and structured environment, but provide an environment that is fun, an opportunity to socialise with friends from school/college and the wider community, teaching respect, discipline, teamwork, decision making and leadership skills to young people aged from 5 – 18 years, male and female and including children with learning difficulties and/or disabilities.
If we are not successful with this petition there is a possibility of it being turned into a retail park/commercial buildings.

This ePetition ran from 12/01/2017 to 23/02/2017 and has now finished.

Council response

Thank you for your e-petition about the land owned by Lancashire County Council at Woodcock Hall Farm in Lostock Hall.

We are not currently looking to transfer this site to any company or organisation. While we have no current plans for this land, which is in a strategic location, we are waiting to see what happens with a number of planned business and highway developments in the area.

As I am sure that you are aware, major development and road schemes are planned for the Lostock Hall and Cuerden area that will bring economic growth and jobs to the county as a whole. These developments could affect any plans for this land and what it might be used for.

We are not responsible for leisure services, but we are keen to support sports and other healthy activities where we can. We hope that this is demonstrated by our existing arrangements with you elsewhere in Lostock Hall. South Ribble Borough Council provide leisure services across the district and are undertaking a study on the provision of outdoor leisure facilities in the borough. This review will look at their leisure provision across the district and from our recent meeting with borough council officers they will be inviting groups including yours, to be part of that process.

We hope that this will help in your search for new football pitches, and our best wishes to the football teams.
