Reform the Library Service

We, the undersigned, petition the county council to to reform the library service to minimise running costs whilst still providing benefits to the local community.

We propose the closure of most of the remaining libraries while creating a scheme where local community organisations and businesses such as local pubs, shops, community centres and churches can set up mini-libraries using books owned by the library service. This would encourage people to utilise local facilities and support local businesses whilst also retaining a library service and enabling the council to cut costs.

This ePetition ran from 04/04/2018 to 16/05/2018 and has now finished.
