Block Off Ronaldsway in Preston

We, the undersigned, petition the county council to to block off Ronaldsway in Preston, which will prevent rat runners from cutting through the supposedly 'access only' street, make the area safer for residents and prevent future Road Traffic Collisions.

Ronaldsway in Preston has become an accident blackspot. Numerous bumps occur fairly regularly, some of which have been serious. Cars also often mount the pavements due to high traffic volume - which is a severe danger for pedestrians. This petition is to stop the rat runners from cutting through the supposedly access only road, significantly reduce traffic volume in the area and make the road safer for the residents of Ronaldsway and surrounding streets. Ronaldsway has become the equivalent of a main road which it is not supposed to be.

Council response

Ronaldsway, from its junction with Cromwell Road and to its junction with Holme Slack Road, has a 20mph speed limit and, is subject to a No Access except for resident's restriction with traffic calming speed bumps installed on the carriageway.

All these restrictions are enforced by Lancashire Constabulary and any concerns or, requests for enforcement should be directed to them on their non-emergency telephone number: 101, or online at: https://doitonline.lancashire.police.uk/

There are no plans to close off any section of Ronaldsway and we would not support any such request at this time.
