Retain the 280 Preston to Clitheroe to Skipton bus service

We, the undersigned, petition the county council to ensure that there is a bus service between Preston, Clitheroe and Skipton to replace the deregistered 280 bus service from Preston Buses.

The 280 bus service provides access to schools and colleges across the A59 route, providing much needed access for teenagers from the rural areas. Opportunity will be restricted and travel will become impractical for many. For those who have access to cars, the lack of a connected transport system will mean more road use and an increase in congestion, pollution and a reduction in air quality.

Council response

We are pleased to advise that from 17 June 2019 Stagecoach in Merseyside & South Lancashire, in partnership with Lancashire County Council, will take over operation of this service following Rotala Preston Bus's decision to withdraw all their journeys.

There will be some minor timetable amendments, but the service will continue to operate Monday to Saturday daytime every hour between Preston and Clitheroe extending through to Skipton every two hours as with the current service. However, the route has been amended between Barnoldswick and Skipton to additionally serve Earby.

Further details of the service will be available on http://www.stagecoachbus.com.
