Distribution of Department for Transport Community Transport Funding from 2011/12 and 2012/13

In 2011/12 and 2012/13 The Department for Transport allocated approximately £10m, per annum, of funding to Local Authorities in England to support Community Transport (CT).

Lancashire County Council at the time received £242,748 in 2011/12 and a further £242,748 a year later in 2012/13. Some relatively small amounts of funding were provided to individual Community Transport operators as part of a hardship fund, following the withdrawal of concessionary fares from CT services and some work was also undertaken by a Consultancy service. Additional spend was incurred as part of the Development Strategy for CT in Lancashire, the establishment of the CT Consortium, and the purchase of some CT vehicles.

The Lancashire Community Transport Consortium has developed a Business Case to access this funding which will assist the consortium by developing their volunteer base and includes proposals to recruit, check and train suitable volunteers and further develop the necessary business skills required to improve the community transport offer in Lancashire.

The current balance of DfT Community Transport Funds held by Lancashire County Council is £370,750.20.
