Purpose:

The purpose of this proposal is to introduce a puffin crossing on Scotforth Road, Lancaster, to provide safer road crossing facilities for pedestrians between the proposed development and the proposed bus stops on the eastern side of Scotforth Road.

The proposals are being pursued as part of a Section 278 Agreement under the Highways Act 1980 as part of a new housing development on the West side of Scotforth Road to improve pedestrian links to the east side of Scotforth Road.

Consultations
Formal consultation was carried out between 19 September-2024 and 17 October-2024 which included advertising in the local press and notices being displayed on site. Divisional county councillors were consulted along with the council's usual consultees and the consultation documents posted on the council's website.

Following formal consultation No Objections were received.

Decision:

Peter Bell, Regulation and Enforcement Manager, on behalf of the Matt Townsend, Director of Highways and Transport took a decision to approve the proposal to introduce the puffin crossing.
