The Worker Protection (Amendment of Equality
Act 2010) Act 2023, which came into force on 26 October 2024,
places a statutory duty on employers to take reasonable steps to
prevent sexual harassment in the workplace. The council's existing
harassment policy and procedure and code of practice for employees
have been reviewed and updated to ensure these are legally
compliant and set out the council's zero-tolerance approach to any
form of harassment, including sexual harassment, and
victimisation.
