Education and Children's Services Scrutiny Committee

Members of the public are welcome to attend our meetings to watch them in person at any of the venues across the County. Publicly accessible meetings held in County Hall will be webcast, which means they are available to be watched live or recorded on our website. Please see our webcasting notice here. The Committee may, in certain circumstances, resolve to hold part of the meeting in private. If this is the case, you will be required to leave the meeting.

Purpose of committee

To review and scrutinise issues around education services provided by the council including those education functions of a Children's Services authority; and children and young people's services including the statutory powers of a scrutiny committee as they relate to the NHS.

The membership of the committee will consist of 16 County Councillors, voting co-optees, (comprising three Church representatives and two parent governor representatives) who shall have voting rights in relation to any education functions which are the responsibility of the Executive, and one non-voting co-optee representing the Youth Council.

This committee was dis-established by Full Council on 26 May 2022 and replaced by the Children, Families and Skills Scrutiny Committee.
