Committee details

Conduct Committee

Members of the public are welcome to attend our meetings to watch them in person at any of the venues across the County. Publicly accessible meetings held in County Hall will be webcast, and we encourage people to view them that way. If you want to attend a meeting in person at any of the venues, note that there may not be space to maintain a social distance from others in the meeting room. We respect your individual choice whether to wear a mask – they are not mandatory, but some people feel more comfortable wearing one. You should not attend if you have tested positive for Coronavirus or if you have any symptoms of Coronavirus.

Anyone wanting to attend a meeting in person should contact us first at democratic.services@lancashire.gov.uk.

Purpose of committee

The purpose of this Committee is to determine whether a councillor or co-opted member has failed to comply with the Council’s Code of Conduct and if so, to determine what action, if any, to take.  The Committee also considers the granting of a dispensation to a member or co-opted member allowing him/her to participate in any discussion at a meeting or vote in relation to any matter in which they have a disclosable pecuniary interest.

The Committee will normally be dealing with confidential information and consequently the greater part of its meetings will be in private.  Further information about the Committee can be found in the Constitution.
