We, the undersigned, petition the county council to consider improving road safety on North Warton Street. Pedestrians often have no option but to walk on this narrow back street, which runs parallel to Warton Street and is unfit for two-way traffic. We propose that bollards be placed at the junction of Station Road and North Warton Street, with yellow lines running down on both sides to West Cliffe, and residential permits issued for those residing on North Warton Street. North Warton Street is particularly hazardous during peak times and the holiday periods. Many vehicles are unaware of the dangers that pedestrians and cyclists face regularly when parking on the pavement, causing pedestrians to walk on the already narrow back road, with approaching vehicles often not giving them the right of way. Several previous near misses of pedestrians highlight the urgency of this matter.
It is a public safety issue that has been getting worse each
year.
