Pay Policy Statement Mid Year Review

Decision status: Recommendations Approved

Is Key decision?: No

Decisions:

The Committee considered a report following a mid-year review of the council's pay policy statement for 2014/15.

The Localism Act 2011 required local authorities to prepare and publish a pay policy statement each year. The pay policy statement must articulate the local authority's approach to a range of issues relating to the pay of its workforce, particularly its chief officers and its lowest paid employees.

The pay policy statement must be approved by Full Council before it comes into force.

In exceptional circumstances the pay policy statement could be reviewed/updated mid-year. The Committee was informed that the statement published in April 2014 had been reviewed and updated to reflect some changes to the council's pay arrangements, namely the appointment of the Chief Executive and the introduction of the Living Wage.

It was noted that the Chief Executive's salary as mentioned at paragraph 4.2 of the revised pay policy statement presented at Appendix 'A' should have been £170,000 and not £175,300.  It was also noted that the grade of the County Secretary and Solicitor as set out at Annex D to the pay policy statement should have been shown as D3 and not D2

Resolved

That, subject to the above-mentioned amendments, the Full Council be asked to approve the revised Pay Policy Statement for 2014/15, as set out at Appendix 'A'.
