Cabinet received a report presenting the Children Looked After Sufficiency Strategy 2017-2020, in accordance with the requirements of Section 22G of the Children's Act 1989. The Strategy set out how Lancashire County Council intends to meet its Sufficiency Duty for the children we look after, improve the quality and choice of placements, ensure value for money and minimise the likelihood of suitable placements not being available locally.

 

In considering the report, Cabinet highlighted the importance of the council's own residential provision, and requested a report on the Residential Strategy for a future meeting.

 

Resolved: That

  i.  the Lancashire Children Looked After(CLA) Sufficiency Strategy 2017-2020, as presented, be approved

  ii.  a report on the Residential Strategy and enhancing the Council's residential provision come to a future Cabinet
