Cabinet considered a report presenting the outcome of a formal consultation with the recognised trade unions to seek a collective agreement on how to achieve a saving of at least £5m through a review of terms and conditions.

Through the formal consultation process, it was agreed that, rather than a full review of terms and conditions, the focus would instead be on reducing costs in three areas:

·  Reduce agency spend

·  Reduce the level of sickness absence

·  Actively encourage the voluntary take up of unpaid leave

Resolved: That the outcome of the consultation be noted and the approach,

Contained within the report to target delivery of the £5m savings, which does not require any changes to employment terms and conditions, be agreed.
