A report was presented on the Re-Imagining the Harris project, a partnership between Lancashire County Council and Preston City Council established in 2015 with the aim of transforming the Harris Museum, Art Gallery and Library. The report outlined a proposal aimed at securing major investment to redevelop and improve the services offered at the Harris

Resolved: That

  i.  capital expenditure of £1m be allocated as a contribution to the Redevelopment of the Harris.

  ii.  the submission of a bid for approximately £4.5 million to the Heritage Lottery Fund be approved as part of a redevelopment project estimated to cost £10.5 million.
