(Exempt information as defined in Paragraph 1 of Part 1 of Schedule 12A to the Local Government Act 1972.  It was considered that in all the circumstances of the case the public interest in maintaining the exemption outweighed the public interest in disclosing the information).

The meeting had been convened to consider a complaint about how a matter relating to an obstruction of the highway had been handled by the Environment Directorate.

The complainants chose not to attend the meeting.  The Committee considered very carefully the points raised by the complainants including the correspondence submitted by them together with other documentation provided to it, which had also been copied to the complainants.  The Committee also considered responses from the local Public Realm Manager who attended the meeting.

Resolved:

(i)  That the complaint be not upheld.

(ii)  That the reasons for this decision, as discussed and agreed at the meeting, be conveyed to the complainants in writing.
