The Committee received a report on the membership, chair and deputy chair and terms of reference of the Committee for 2017/18.

 

Resolved:

 

That:

 

i.  the appointment of County Councillors G Wilkins and A Gardiner as Chair and Deputy Chair respectively of the Corporate Complaints Committee for the 2017/18 municipal year be noted.

 

ii.  the membership and terms of reference of the Corporate Complaints  Committee, as set out in the report, be noted.

The Committee is asked to consider whether, under Section 100A(4) of the Local Government Act, 1972, it considers that the public should be excluded from the meeting during consideration of the following items of business on the grounds that there would be a likely disclosure of exempt information as defined in the appropriate paragraph of Part 1 of Schedule 12A to the Local Government Act, 1972, as indicated against the heading to the item.

Resolved: That the press and members of the public be excluded from the meeting during consideration of the following item of business on the grounds that there would be a likely disclosure of exempt information as defined in the appropriate paragraph of Part I of Schedule 12 A to the Local Government Act 1972. It was considered that in all the circumstances the public interest in maintaining the exemption outweighed the public interest in disclosing the information.

Complaint by Mr H

(Not for Publication – Exempt information as defined in Paragraph 1 of Part 1 of Schedule 12A to the Local Government Act, 1972.  It is considered that in all the circumstances of the case the public interest in maintaining the exemption outweighs the public interests in disclosing the information).

(Exempt information as defined in Paragraphs 1, 2 and 3 of Part 1 of Schedule 12A to the Local Government Act, 1972.  It was considered that in all the circumstances of the case the public interest in maintaining the exemption outweighed the public interests in disclosing the information).

 

The Committee considered a compliant relating to the safety of pedestrians and cyclists using county roads and in particular the shared path round the A6/M55 (Jt1) Broughton roundabout.

 

The complainant attended the meeting to present the complaint.  The Committee considered very carefully the points raised by the complainant at the meeting and in the correspondence submitted by him, together with other documentation provided, which had also been copied to the complainant.  The Committee also considered responses from officers of the County Council, who attended the meeting.

 

Resolved:

 

 i.  That the complaint be not upheld.

 

ii.  That the reasons for this decision, including the Committee's recommendations to officers, as discussed and agreed at the meeting, be conveyed to the complainant in writing.
