The Committee considered a report setting out the Children Looked After Strategy 2014 – 2017 and the Leaving Care Strategy 2014 – 2017.

 

The revised Children Looked After Strategy covered the period 2014 – 2017 and demonstrated what actions needed to be taken to ensure that outcomes for children and young people who are looked after are improved, and that they can go on to lead happy, independent and successful lives.

 

The revised Leaving Care Strategy also covered the period 2014 – 2017 and demonstrated how services in the County Council would work together to ensure that young people leaving local authority care were ready and felt confident to make the move into independent or semi-independent living.

 

Resolved: - That the recommendations set out in the report to the Cabinet Member for Children, Young People and Schools, be noted and no additional comments or suggested alternative recommendations be made.

The Committee considered a report setting out proposals for the future of Glenburn Sports College, West Lancashire.

 

The report was the final stage in the process to determine the proposal, as detailed in the statutory notice, to discontinue Glenburn Sports College on 31 August 2016.

The Committee considered a report on the proposed conversion of footways on Lancaster Road, Morecambe between Christie Avenue/Lathom Avenue and Sainsbury's to cycle tracks with a right of way for pedestrians.

 

The scheme would be carried out and funded by Lancaster City Council using a Section 106 planning contribution from Sainsbury's for cycle infrastructure in connection with the store.

 

Resolved: - That the recommendations set out in the report to the Cabinet Member for Highways and Transport, be noted and no additional comments or suggested alternative recommendations be made.

The Committee considered a report on transforming public health services in Lancashire.

 

The report set out the key proposed changes to the current public health service contracts and sought authorisation to commence procurement of these services, with completion by 31 March 2016.

The Committee is asked to consider whether, under Section 100A(4) of the Local Government Act 1972, it considers that the public should be excluded from the meeting during consideration of the following items of business on the grounds that there would be a likely disclosure of exempt information as defined in the appropriate paragraph of Part I of Schedule 12A to the Local Government Act 1972 as indicated against the heading to the item.

Resolved: - That, in accordance with Section 100A(4) of the Local Government Act 1972, the press and public should be excluded from the meeting during consideration of the following items of business on the grounds that there would be a likely disclosure of exempt information as defined in the appropriate paragraphs of Part 1 of Schedule 12A to the Local Government 1972 and that in all circumstances the public interest in maintaining the exemption outweighs the public interest in disclosing the information.

The Committee considered a report setting out a recommendation to award contracts for the provision of a short term supported accommodation service for women or women with families/children who have experienced domestic abuse and/or harassment.
