The issue on Holt Lane is exacerbated due to a number of cars and their occupants congregating in the evenings and weekends in the car park at Denham Quarry. The cars quickly pick up extremely high speeds as they approach and leave the quarry.

Thank you for your petition concerning a reduction to the speed limit on Holt Lane, Brindle.
The road runs through a very remote, rural section of Brindle and therefore is subject to the national speed limit as with many similar roads in the area. As defined by the Highway Code we would expect drivers to suitably adjust their driving behaviour to match the conditions and road layout to ensure they can proceed safely.
We use injury collision reports from the police to decide where we can have the greatest measurable impact on reducing injury collisions. In this case, there have been no recorded injury collisions at this location in the past five years.
Whilst this is excellent news, it does not allow us to justify funding to support a reduced speed limit at this location. Regrettably, there are other locations in the county where injury collisions do occur. It would be remiss of us not to try and make a positive impact at these locations our priority.
