Following the introduction of the Care Act 2014, the county council has undertaken to review all adult social care policies, practice and guidance to ensure compliance.
Although Respite is not a general responsibility in the Care Act,
for local authorities, the county council considers this new
Respite policy as critical to the care and support provided to
people. The policy is now presented for approval alongside a
consultation exercise before implementation of the policy in April
2023.
