Proposal to Expand St George's CE Primary School, Chorley (Final Report)

On 4 November 2015 approval was granted by the Cabinet Member for Children, Young People and Schools to proceed with a programme of capital improvement/expansion projects in maintained schools, including the provision of additional places to regularise admission numbers and addressing suitability issues as identified by Ofsted, to be funded from the Schools Single Capital Pot, in a report entitled "Capital Strategy for Schools 2015/16 to 2017/18".

One of the projects included in this programme is the proposal to allow a permanent increase in Reception intakes from 35 to 45 places at St George's CE Primary School in Chorley from September 2017.

Between 8 March 2016 and 5 April 2016 a formal consultation was carried out on the proposed expansion of the school, through the publication of a statutory public notice.

Under the statutory school expansion process, a decision should now be taken about the proposal. If the authority fails to decide the proposal within two months from the end of the representation period, the proposal and any representations about the proposals must be passed to the schools adjudicator for decision.

This is deemed to be a Key Decision and the provisions of Standing Order No 25 have been complied with.
