Introductions and Apologies

To note who is attending and any apologies for absence.

All were welcomed to the meeting and the following apologies were noted:

The Board also received the sad news that Lin Fisher, who had been a member of the Board for a number of years, had passed away.  Tributes were given to a wonderful compassionate foster carer who will be sorely missed.

To receive an update from the matters arising from the notes of the meeting and to discuss where the actions agreed from previous meetings are up to.

Minutes:

The Board discussed the action sheet and updated the sheet which will be attached to all future agendas.

What our Elected Members have been doing (15 mins)

County Councillor Prynn and other Elected Members

 

To note feedback from work undertaken by the Chair of the Board and our Elected Members including Members' visits.

Minutes:

Various county councillors gave brief updates on what work they had been doing as members on the Board.

 

These actions varied from shadowing Independent Reviewing Officers, supporting events dealing with mental health issues to ways in which all children looked after can have their voice heard.

 

The Board also noted the PROUD celebration event which is scheduled to take place on 23 January 2014 and the North West Regional Corporate Parenting Boards Conference which is taking place on the afternoon of 17 February 2014.

To receive an update on current performance data.

Minutes:

The Board considered the report which had been discussed earlier at a LINX meeting.

 

The Board agreed it needed more information on numbers and details of CLA exclusions.

6.

LINX (Lancashire's Children in Care Council) (60 mins)

Young People from LINX/Barnardos

 

To receive feedback on the work our young people have been doing and the topics that have been discussed at their LINX meetings ie Leaving Care Accommodation, Pupil Premium Plus, The Entitlements Enquiry and the Annual Report.

Minutes:

The young people gave a number of presentations and related activities on what they had been doing.

 

Topics included Pupil Premium Plus and The Entitlements Inquiry (which incorporates Care Leavers).

Service Redesign for Children in Need of Help, Protection, Children Looked After and Care Leavers (5 mins)

To receive an update.

Minutes:

Diane Booth briefly updated the Board on the work being done regarding the service re-design.

 

Diane asked specifically for the advice and guidance of LINX in moving this forward.  Members of LINX agreed to help Diane with this project.
