Review of Library Opening Hours

Purpose:

Following the completion of the 2014 Review of Library Opening Hours and an analysis of the results of the public consultation at 63 libraries, the proposals are to:

 

  i.  Increase and amend the number of opening hours at  21 libraries

  ii.  Amend the existing number of opening hours at 12 libraries, resulting in more convenient opening times

  iii.  Retain the existing number and pattern of opening hours at 30 libraries

 

The net combined effect will be an overall increase in opening hours of 50.75 hours per week, the equivalent of 2%, which will be achieved with no additional staffing costs.

The Cabinet Member for Environment, Planning and Cultural Services:

 

(i)  Approved the changes in opening hours at the libraries set out at the 29 libraries at Appendix 'A' to take effect as soon as possible from 1 January 2015

(ii)  Proposed and agreed to write to all County Councillors in the areas with affected libraries to seek their views.
